Welcome to “My Qataar”
I’m Um Mansoorah, a grateful mother of two beautiful children and a passionate home baker. I love working with freshly milled whole grains, living(fermented) foods.
I warmly welcome you to ‘My Qataar’.
My goal is to make your experience here as comfortable and beneficial as possible.

My Story
Qatar became our home :
I come from a country where Muslims are a minority, and hearing the call to prayer was rare.
Alhamdulillah, everything changed when we arrived in Qatar.
For the first time, I truly felt a sense of belonging. We were able to practice our faith with freedom, respect, and dignity. The people of Qatar are incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. It became our home—not just in address, but in our hearts. That is why I named this journey “My Qataar.”
If you haven’t visited Qatar yet, you truly should. This country is filled with beauty, rich traditions, and a remarkable spirit of unity, where people from different nationalities live together with love and mutual respect. This is what I deeply cherish about Qatar.
Consequences of Modern day diet:
If you have been born and raised in cities, or have spent a long time living in the Gulf, you may notice that gut issues, allergies, skin problems, respiratory disorders, and even diabetes have become quite common.
Interestingly, our forefathers who lived much closer to nature—often in desert environments—did not face these problems at such a scale.
One of the major reasons for this shift is our modern diet. Today, we consume heavily processed foods and refined flours that sit on shelves for long periods, losing their nutritional value and vitality.
During COVID-19, we returned to Qatar, and I began noticing rashes on my 10-month-old baby’s elbows. This sudden change deeply worried me.
I was confused about what had caused this issue, and I even thought that my son might have developed gluten intolerance after the change in environment.
At the same time, I kept hearing completely different opinions—one side saying wheat is harmful to health, while another promotes plant-based living as the best lifestyle.

The Turning Point:
In the midst of this confusion, I came across a podcast by Sue Becker, where she shared how consuming organic, freshly milled whole wheat grains became a turning point in her life—helping her overcome allergies, sinus issues, and chronic constipation. It also helped her children become healthier, along with many other testimonials from people following her work.
I was not only amazed, but also gained a deeper confidence in using freshly milled flour, which can truly support the body’s healing by providing real nourishment.
Allah says:
“Verily, it is Allah Who causes the seed-grain and the fruit-stone to split and sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. Such is Allah—so how are you turned away?”
(Surah Al-An‘am 6:95)
What a powerful verse. How such a grain be harmful to human race!
It felt as though I was seeing this ayah for the very first time in my life.
The act of a grain—something that appears lifeless—splitting open and sprouting into life is, in itself, a profound sign.
It made me reflect that the flour we consume should immediately come from grains that still carry a living quality to truly nourish us!
Yet, we often rely on alternatives that lies on shelves for an unknown period of time that gradually contribute to inflammation and imbalance in the body.

Consume living grains:
I began searching for organic grains that were still living — meaning they could sprout.
- First, I could not find any organic whole wheat grains available in Qatar.
- Second, among the few available options, some did not even reach a 30% sprouting rate.
- A few also developed a rotten smell during soaking.
- Alhamdulillah, only one brand (though not organic) showed around an 80% sprouting rate.
I immediately milled the dry grains, made bread, and gave it to my family. I waited anxiously for early-morning rashes—but none appeared. Still, there’s a long way to go. He still gets these rashes now and then, since he sometimes eats food from his friends or from the canteen or from restaurants.

What started must come to an end!
What appeared as rashes in my son could appear differently in others—such as diabetes, gut issues, allergies, inflammation or other imbalances. The change that happened in my home should spread everywhere—yes, in schools,in restaurants,in every home in Qatar and every where. What was started by humans ,must also come to an end by him.
I understood very clearly: it was not the wheat or gluten intolerance that was causing the issue for my child, but the store-bought processed flour .
That is when I felt a strong desire to spread awareness about freshly milled whole wheat grains across Qatar, and beyond—to other Muslim communities around the world.
From then on, I began making soft and fluffy whole wheat breads, pizzas that even beat store-bought versions, along with cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, and many more for my family and friends. Everyone enjoyed them and kept coming back for more.Really its delicious! You must taste it!

Fresh Milling: A Tradition Worth Reviving
Do you know that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) never consumed sifted flour in his lifetime?
Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never saw bread made from finely sifted flour from the time he was commissioned until his passing. When asked how they managed, he explained that they would grind the grain, blow away the husk, and knead what remained into dough.
(Al-Bukhari 5413)
This shows us a powerful lifestyle example—consuming food in its most natural, whole form.
This is not the bread for the sick ones alone!
This is the Real Bread we are truly meant to eat.
This is the Real Bread of the rich and the poor.
This is the Real Bread of the king and his people.
This is the Real Bread for every mother like you and me.
This is the Real Bread for every father and his folks
This is the Real Bread for healthy and sick ones.
This is the Real Bread that real men ate!
Similarly, the story of Prophet Yusuf (عليه السلام) teaches us profound wisdom. He advised the king to store grains during the seven years of abundance—not flour—and to use them during the seven years of famine.
Our forefathers also did not store flour, because freshly milled flour oxidizes quickly, loses nutrients, and becomes rancid faster. That is why their trade and storage were based on whole grains, not flour.
